Call for participation
BUDAPEST DESIGN WEEK 2013
Dear Cooperating Partner,
Budapest Design Week is entering its tenth year in 2013, and we hope that the festival realised with close to 300 cooperating partners and attracting 60 thousand visitors year after year can celebrate its tenth anniversary with the widest possible representation of the design profession.
The anniversary festival takes place between the 27th of September and the 6th of October. The Hungarian Intellectual Property Office is the main sponsor and the patron of the program series, its leading professional partners are the Hungarian Design Council and Design Terminal, and it is organised by HIPAvilon Nonprofit Ltd.
Budapest Design Week 2013: Crossovers
In 2013 the festival focuses on the crossover trends in contemporary design; the dissolving of the genre boundaries between art, design and crafts, the original use of unique craft techniques.
Following on the popular initiative of the past few years, in 2013 Budapest Design Week's Guest of Honour is Italy. Programs organised by Budapest Design Week in the framework of the event series have proven to be some of the most attractive parts of the festival: the festival opening exhibition displaying international and Hungarian pieces will again open in Design Terminal, the Open Studios initiative, the Design Week Discount, the Design Tours, as well as gastronomy programs will all take place, while there will be even more creative workshops for adults and children.
Just like in previous years, a star designer guest is also being invited and the most prestigious awards of the design profession (Hungarian Design Awards, Design Management Award) are also presented in the framework of the festival.
Similarly to last year, the participation fee for taking part in the program of the Budapest Design Week is the following:
1. Hungarian designer, Hungarian design team, Hungarian brand: 25.000 HUF + VAT
2. Smaller international brands (or their local representative) and private educational institutions: 50.000 HUF + VAT
3. Multinational companies: tailor-made fee based on the proposed program
Participation is free of charge for budgetary institutions (state universities, secondary schools, museums, cultural institutions of foreign countries, etc.) and for participating partners organising a program in cooperation with Design Week festival (e.g. invitation of a star designer).
Participation in Design Week's own programs (e.g. Open Studios, Design Week Discount, Design Week Gastro, workshops, design tours) also remains free of charge.
The participation fee contains appearance in the two-language program brochure printed in 25.000 copies and on the two-language www.designweek.hu web site. To celebrate its tenth anniversary, Budapest Design Week returns with a fresh, exciting image and a renewed web site meeting the requirements of our time both in its appearance and content.
Participation fee is payable following the approval of program proposals and before the editing of the program brochure.
We are cordially asking you to send your program proposal (title and type of the program, short outline, precise name of organising institution(s) and/or company(ies), and – if known – the planned venue and date) to both of the following addresses: email@example.com (Judit Osvárt, Budapest Design Week project leader) and firstname.lastname@example.org (Zsófi Ginter, project manager).
Deadline for applications: 7th June 2013
We hope to welcome you among our partners this year, as well. Yours sincerely,
HIPAvilon Nonprofit Ltd.
